Pianoman was one of our all-time famous herdsires. He was born October 4, 1997. He was purchased as a cria by Dan & Marilyn Milton. They put him in the Celebrity Sales in 2001. He was the hit of the sale and was purchased by Sandra Jones. We purchased him from the Jones' in 2005. He passed away in 2013 at age 16 years old of an apparent heart attack.
Cornucopia was born November 5, 1998 on the farm of Art Kennel. He was out of the Chilean Import, Silverspirit. These bloodline are very sought after and exhibit unique characteristics including super large bone, large heads, and super silky fiber. Mike Gerkin purchased Cornucopia in 2000 and we purchased him from the Gerkins in 2003. We have kept a couple of daughter lines out of him to continue the Silverspirit bloodlines. Cornucopia now lives in Wisconsin.
We first saw Blizzard at the North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE) Llama Show in Louisville, Kentucky in the fall 2015. I was so impressed with his size and his regal attitude while Mark Smith was grooming him. With this being his first show, he placed Triple Grand Champion Silky Male which included the 2015 Eastern Region ILR-SD Silky Grand Champion. We kept Blizzard for several years. We kept two daughters out of him before we sold him to another farm in Tennessee.
We purchased Platinum as a juvenile male at the MLM. We wanted to add a 1/2 Argentine silver male to our herd to add bone to some of our females. He is doing that!
Platinum is very laid back and gentle, so we use him with our children's llama camp in the summers.
Platinum is so gentle that we use him as the only intact male that we take on llama hikes. He does a great job!
Platinum is a proven young male and is producing beautiful crias!
Platinum has a very unique pedigree. 1/2 Argentine with bloodlines from Argentine Don Zunca touting his silver fiber from his mother's lineage from Silver Peru.
Bowtie is our new premier silky junior herdsire purchased in August 2019 from Rick & Mary Adams . He is co-owned by Walnut Ridge Llama Farm & Michael & Patricia West.
Bowtie is growing very fast to probably become one of the tallest llamas on our farm. He is already tall in this picture with Mary Adams even though he is less than one year old.
One can look at our recent herdsire purchases and see our affinity for Great Northern Llama Co (GNLC) bloodlines. Bowtie's sire bloodlines come from GNLC Hightower back to GNLC Merlin & GNLC Silver Lining. His granddams follow GNLC Swingtime, MCF Etol, & the Canadian. That is powerhouse genetics.
We bred him to several of our females. We decided to sell him in 2022 since we had similar bloodlines in our junior herdsire, GNLC Cococola.
Sandstone is our new premier herdsire purchased in September 2019 from Darrell & Merlene Anderson . He is co-owned by Walnut Ridge Llama Farm & Michael & Patricia West.
Sandstone was undefeated in the show ring as a juvenile, including being named Grand Champion Silky Male at the 2016 ILR Gathering, and winning his class at the LFA World Futurity. As a yearling, he captured the Reserve Champion award at the 2017 ILR Gathering.
The Andersons considered JLL Madison to be the most consistent and powerful foundation female in their herd. She dominated the show ring winning many shows throughout the country. When they were afforded the opportunity to breed her to GNLC Scorcher, they jumped at the chance. Scorcher was never beat in the show ring, including being named Grand Champion Suri Male at the 2014 ILR Gathering.
Sandstone captured the very best from both his sire and dam. His unique color, style, presence and stretch, combined with his silky fiber has earned him the premier spot in our herdsire row.
Sandstone looks great no matter which way he faces.
Check out this powerhouse pedigree.
