School & Church Field Trips

School Field Trips

At The Llama Farm, school field trips are more than just a day away from the classroom—they are carefully designed learning experiences led by educators who truly understand what makes a great field trip. Mr. Jerry, a retired teacher and principal, and Ms. Carolyn, a retired art teacher, have spent their careers guiding students. They know the difference between a meaningful, engaging field trip and one that misses the mark. That experience is woven into every part of our school field trip program.

Group tour

Our field trips are structured around multiple interactive learning centers, keeping students engaged, curious, and actively involved throughout the visit. One of the highlights is a ride on our famous Llamazine wagon, which takes students on a scenic tour of the farm. Along the way, the wagon makes stops at the barns where students learn about the history of llamas, their role in agriculture, and how they are cared for on a working farm. These short, focused lessons are age-appropriate and encourage questions and discussion.

Kids & crias

Another favorite learning center is “Walk a Llama.” Here, students get hands-on experience leading a llama, learning about animal behavior, responsibility, and respect for living creatures. This activity builds confidence and creates unforgettable moments—often becoming the highlight of the day.

Students also enjoy “Fun with the Crias,” a center designed to delight while teaching gentle handling, observation skills, and animal safety around baby llamas called crias. The joy and excitement of interacting with baby llamas helps reinforce lessons in empathy and care in a natural, memorable way. This is a perfect place to take pictures & selfies.

To round out the experience, students participate in an art project led by Ms. Carolyn, connecting creativity with nature and farm life. This activity allows students to reflect on what they’ve learned while expressing themselves through art—an ideal balance of education and fun.

Our school field trips are organized, educational, and thoughtfully paced, ensuring teachers and students alike leave smiling. To learn more or plan your visit, please call Mr. Jerry at 423-823-2100.
